Hello & welcome to the Normandy Military History Society,
Provding tours of the Normandy Beach Head & of the later development of the battle.
It is just me Christopher Sly, so I assure you that you will have my full & personal attention.
I live in the first village taken by the Western Allies – Graignes taken on the night of June 6th by the 82nd Airborne which places me equidistant between Omaha & Utah Beaches with Carentan nearby, a good spot for an understanding of the American sector, in a surviving farmhouse.
There are two kinds of tour that I offer. The first a one day tour of prominent & well known sites of battle running to a timetable which needs to be carefully observed so that you see & learn as much as you can in one day. A visit to Pointe Du Hoc where the Rangers took a gun battery after scaling vertical cliffs by firing rocket propelled grapnels to snag the enemy barbed wire, enduring dreadful casualties to silence the guns in the bunkers which in fact had not been installed.
